In their final year, students complete a comprehensive capstone project, designing a large-scale commercial space that reflects their individual interests and career aspirations. This culminating project showcases their skills, synthesizing knowledge acquired throughout the program with insights from real-world experience.

Kyla Bidgood is the Creative Director and founder of Bidgood Projects Inc, a Vancouver Island–based interior design studio known for its thoughtful, tactile approach to space. Since establishing her independent studio in 2011, Kyla has built a practice that balances creative vision with technical depth, delivering residential, commercial, and hospitality projects that feel both grounded and meaningfully expressive. Her work is rooted in materiality and atmosphere, often working within existing structures to uncover new possibilities. Bidgood’s work has been recognized by Western Living, which named Kyla Interior Designer of the Year for 2025, and featured in publications including Dwell, Architectural Digest, and House & Home. A graduate of Vancouver Island University (2005), Kyla is proud to return as a speaker and support the next generation of designers.
